East Riding Theatre aims to deliver top class performances and to enhance the appreciation of Performance Arts in the region of the East Riding and beyond. The Theatre opened its doors for the first time on 12th December 2014; followed by a 23 performance, sell-out show of A Christmas Carol, adapted by Vincent Regan and directed by internationally acclaimed director, Mike Friend.

Since then the Theatre has continued to develop and grow and has hosted a wide range of arts events including theatre, comedy, music, festivals and more. The theatre is run and kept going by the fantastic volunteers who come and do a wide range of jobs that are essential in the running of an increasingly busy theatre. The Theatre is starting to become a real community hub for the Town and highlights of this include the Theatre opening its doors for the Tour De Yorkshire which took place in May 2015 with locals being able to watch the event on big screens whilst enjoying the comfort of the newly renovated cafe bar area. East Riding Theatre is also delighted to be the hosts for the Beverley Literature Festival which will take place in October 2015.

ERT supports the creative industry and high class productions; the bench mark having been set by A Christmas Carol and, whilst volunteers run the venue, what goes on the stage is paid work. As Sue Kirkman (Theatre Manager) states, ‘the importance of producing our own work will earn ERT credibility as an artistic force to be reckoned with; regionally, nationally and internationally. We may be a small venue but our ambition is huge.’

I’ve always loved reading and writing, but I never considered writing as a career until a former manager suggested I write a book because my business reports read more like stories. Great idea, but what on earth would I write about?

A year or so later, a friend presented me with a gift voucher for a telephone clairvoyant to help me through a crossroads in my life and career. That telephone call changed my life. The clairvoyant told me that I was going to move back home, start my own business, then meet and marry the man of my dreams. Oh, and his name would be Steven! Let the search commence! I didn’t actually find Steven, but I did find the premise for my first novel.

In September 2014, I secured a three-book publishing contract because, once I’d found my premise for ‘Steven’, the ideas kept coming. ‘Searching for Steven’ is the first book in a trilogy set on the stunning North Yorkshire Coast where I live with my husband (a non-Steven), my daughter, Felix the cat, and an ever-growing hug of collectible teddy bears.

By day I work in Recruitment. By night I’m a Brown Owl and a writer.

She Productions Theatre Company - An all-female collective bringing you innovative multimedia theatre

If theatre is an inflated reflection of real life; something familiar, embellished with a little mystery, then let us deliver it with a fresh insight.

Let’s forget the smoke and mirrors, and break down the fourth wall; we want to make you feel as at home in the theatre as we do.

By fusing numerous theatrical styles, we devise shows to immerse everyone from the moment they step through the door, converting the more indifferent spectators into avid thespians.

At She Productions we include, we engage and, most importantly, we entertain.
